Fiord
The Fiord eco-region, a rugged landscape in New Zealand's southwest, contains four distinct districts. The Darran and Doubtful districts are defined by steep, glacier-carved mountains and high rainfall, with large, unmodified beech and podocarp forests. The Te Anau district is the driest and centers on the vast lake systems of Te Anau and Manapouri, known for its extensive beech forests. The Preservation district has lower mountains, a unique coastal plateau, and numerous islands, with its forests and wetlands serving as a sanctuary for a variety of flora.
