Leptecophylla juniperina is a native to New Zealand, Victoria, and Tasmania. The subspecies juniperina is widespread in New Zealand's forests and shrublands, as well as in the lowland areas of eastern, north-western, and western Tasmania. In contrast, subspecies oxycedrus is exclusively found in the exposed, rocky coastal regions of southern and western Tasmania.
