swamp kiokio

foliage palette: mid-green
  • Parablechnum minus | swamp kiokio

Adapted to wet, low-lying environments, small, upright and delicate. Bright green fronds have widely spaced pinnae with rounded ends near the base, giving the plant a light, open character. Naturally found along gully floors, stream margins, damp forest, scrub, swamps, and drainage ditches, it thrives in consistently moist soils. New fronds often emerge with a reddish to pink flush, especially in brighter light. Cold hardy and easy to grow, it is well suited to underplanting and mass planting, where it creates a soft, textural ground layer with subtle seasonal colour.
