  • Coprosma propinqua var. propinqua | mingimingi

A highly variable and tough divaricating shrub found throughout New Zealand, from coastal salt marshes to dry woodlands. It is a key plant for revegetation and provides excellent low shelter. Its small, interlaced leaves and dark branches produce masses of fruit that change from white to dark blue, attracting native birds and lizards. Mingimingi is a pioneer species that can withstand strong winds, cold conditions, and a variety of soils, from wet to well-drained. It is a vital food source and provides habitat for native birds and New Zealand's declining lizard and gecko populations.
