The native Coprosma leaf beetle is a herbivore that chews holes in the young leaves of twiggy coprosma. It shares this food source with the caterpillars of three native moths—the Dark Coprosma Carpet moth (Austrocidaria similata), the Coprosma pug moth (Pasiphila sandycias), and the Pallid Coprosma leafroller (Leucotenes coprosmae). In addition, two species of native coprosma scale insects feed on Coprosma rhamnoides, adding to the community of specialist herbivores supported by this plant.
