Public Space Planting Palettes

Ever spotted a plant in your local reserve and wondered what it was?

Our planting palettes let you discover the native species already growing in public spaces across Aotearoa. Use the eco-region filter to see which species belong to the local environment and how they support biodiversity.

As you explore the space, you can learn the names of these species in both te reo Māori and English, understand their role in the ecosystem, and get ideas for how to bring them into your own backyard. By linking what you see in public spaces to what you can grow at home, the palettes turn every visit to the park into an opportunity to connect more deeply with the land.
