Paratrophis microphylla | small-leaved milktree, tūrepo

An upright tree form that exhibits a distinctive divaricating growth habit in its juvenile stage before maturing into a tree with a spreading canopy atop a short, sturdy trunk. Preferring fertile lowland forests, it can reach up to 12 meters in height, at which point its ong, glossy green juvenile leaves transition to a more oval shape. In spring, it produces green-yellow flowers, followed by fleshy red berries. Turepo is commonly used in revegetation projects or included in larger native gardens.
