Pittosporum cornifolium | tāwhiri karo
This slow-growing yet interesting native can be an epiphyte in large trees in the wild or a shrub. Its fine, small, leathery leaves grow in whorls around the branches. In spring, red flower buds open to reveal small, fragrant, yellow flowers. The foliage starts light green, maturing to dark glossy green. This evergreen is a great addition to mixed plantings, woodland gardens, native plantings, or riparian areas.
