A compact, hardy New Zealand native shrub valued for its fine texture and resilience in challenging conditions. Naturally found in coastal and lowland environments, it forms a dense, rounded habit with small aromatic leaves and masses of delicate white flowers that attract insects and support local biodiversity. Well suited to dry, exposed sites, this species tolerates wind, salt spray, and poor soils once established. It performs well in coastal gardens, restoration plantings, and low maintenance landscapes, where it can be used as a low shelter shrub, informal hedge, or planted in drifts for texture and structure. Its neat form and adaptability also make it appropriate for contemporary urban planting where robustness is required.
