pimelea turakina
Pimelea actea | pimelea turakina
A rare and graceful pimelea found only on the sandy foredunes of the lower North Island. Slender and upright, it has a light, directional structure with small white flowerheads dotted along its stems for much of the year. Its most striking feature is the translucent berries that follow, hanging like tiny glass beads along the stems for an extended season. Perfect in full sun and free-draining coastal soils, this delicate species adds elegance to dune-style landscapes while supporting conservation of a critically vulnerable species.
