  • Rhopalostylis sapida | nīkau

An iconic palm known for its  elegant appearance. Arising from a central trunk, it features large, broad, gracefully arching dark green fronds, allowing it to reach approximately 10 meters in height with a 6-meter spread. A prized addition to subtropical gardens or as a striking specimen, the nīkau is also notable as the world's southernmost palm species, adding an architectural element to urban, and coastal landscapes. While it prefers a sheltered, semi-shaded location with moist, well-drained, organically rich soil, it can tolerate cooler climates but flourishes in warm, humid conditions. Its upright form makes it ideal for adding vertical interest and a lush, tropical feel to any garden.
