The foliage is made up of small, oval leaves held close to the ground, creating a tight, spreading carpet. From spring through summer, and sometimes into autumn, small white flowers appear nestled among the leaves, adding a subtle seasonal detail. Naturally found in damp lowland and swampy environments, this plant thrives in consistently moist soils and is well suited to garden edges, underplanting, containers, and areas beside water features. It performs best in sheltered positions with good moisture and can spread vigorously where conditions suit, making it an effective and attractive groundcover for wet or shady sites.
