matua-rarauhe
Gleichenia dicarpa | matua-rarauhe, waewae-kākā, tangle fern, swamp umbrella fern
This tall, wiry, and interlacing fern is a creeping species native to moist areas and tall open forests in both Australia and New Zealand. Though temperamental until established, it thrives in high humidity with good sunshine and moisture, and can be found in swamps, under waterfalls, and cliffs. Its common name, "tangle fern," comes from its roots, which trap organic matter, making it useful for improving erosion areas.
