Pseudopanax lessonii | houpara

 

A striking shrub found in coastal forests and scrub, it features attractive leathery leaves with 3-5 leaflets, and produces green flowers followed by dark purple, fleshy fruits which attract the birds by providing them with food. This species is particularly well-suited for coastal plantings, responds well to pruning, and thrives in drier conditions.
