Commonly found in dry lowland forests throughout the North Island and the northern South Island, Olearia rani is a small forest tree that can reach up to 8m tall under favourable conditions. It is frequently observed as a small to medium shrub in regenerating forests or along the edges of clearings. During springtime, it produces lovely clusters of small, white, daisy-like flowers.
